Hi! I’m Rebekah!
and It’s my honor to help you improve your child’s communication skills.
How Speech For Families all began…
Over the years, I’ve worked in many places where parents were not invited into the therapy room. Maybe you’ve experienced this yourself? Parents know their children the best. If we want to help children, then we must include the parents in the process, and coach them on how to help their children. I felt that in order give parents my dedicated attention, energy, and support, I needed to start my own business that centered around that idea. Parents are key to providing powerful guidance for their child’s speech and language growth.
Speech For Families centers around improving confidence in communication skills for kids and their families. I love celebrating with families when goals are met, when skills are learned, when something that used to be so difficult or confusing is now easy and clear. That’s the best part of what I do! I love when families “graduate” and don’t need communication services anymore. It’s so amazing to see the growth in confidence in the children as well as their parents when communication skills improve.
What is Speech For Families all about?
The core values that guide our work at Speech For Families are integrity, connection, potential, and guidance. Integrity is an integral part of who we are and how we operate, always seeking to treat others with respect, no matter the situation. Connection is key to everything we do here, our focus is on increasing the connection between parent and child through the development of communication skills, while also creating a community of support. We believe that every person has the potential for growth, we help parents see their own potential as well as the potential of their most cherished loved ones, their child. We know that parents know their children best, so we collaborate with parents, and share tools so that they can become their child’s communication guide.
What’s my experience?
I am a licensed and credentialed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). With over a decade of experience working as an SLP, I’ve had the honor to work with many different children and their families in private practice, public and private schools, home health, and an outpatient clinic for a children’s hospital. Sharing knowledge and skills that can help people communicate is a part of my purpose.
So, what can I do for you?
After listening to feedback from families, their experiences in the world of communication have shaped my role. What I’ve learned is that many parents want better communication with their trusted communication mentor. They want more information about what their child is going through. They want easy ideas of what they can do to help at home.
So, at Speech For Families we help identify tools and skill-building techniques to improve a child’s speech/language skills and coach parents on how to support their children’s communication growth along the way.
